Yangon United recently signed Colombian striker Jose Valencia for one season of the Myanmar National League to energize the forward line for the sake of international and domestic tourneys, as stated by Yangon United.
“Valencia played in American and South America clubs. He also represented the Colombia Youth International teams and was a standout for the U-20 National Team in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup playing along with James Rodriquez, former player of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich,” Yangon United officials stated.
“Taking the legacy of his father Adolfo Valencia who made appearances in the Columbia National Team and played in Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid, he started his professional career in Santa Fe, Colombia club at the age of 17.
“After a year spent in Santa Fe, he made a stunning performance known to Major League Soccer (MLS) Club Portland Timbers FC, and he was loaned in 2011. Then he could make a full transfer to Portland Timbers in 2013.
“Afterwards, he was loaned to Argentine sports club Club Olimpo from Portland Timbers and moved to Rosario Central in the second half of the season and back to Columbia clubs.
“Looking back on his international achievements, he achieved the two times Champions titles with Santa Fe and recorded his name in Maurice Revello Tournament as a Champion in 2011,” Yangon United officials elaborated.
The six feet one-inch forward player commented, “I am thrilled to receive the offer from this club, and this is a great opportunity for me. Moreover, this is my very first time in Myanmar, and joining Yangon United is beyond my pleasure. Now I am ready to play for this great team.” — KZL
