The recruitment of workers from Japan has increased in three countries, including Myanmar, in 2023, according to an official from Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation (MOEAF).
Japanese labour recruitment from Myanmar occurred approximately twice a month in 2023, with about one thousand workers in a time, according to the statistics released by the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo.
“As Japan preferred Myanmar workers to others this year, more job opportunities were created. Previously, they used to bring in more Vietnamese. Now, they are recruiting more from Myanmar, Indonesia and Nepal. Because of the shortage of young Japanese workforce, more jobs suitable for younger age groups are included in the offers,” that MOEAF official said.
According to 288 job offers sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the period from 16 to 30 November after reviewby the Myanmar Embassy in Japan, over 200 Japanese firms will recruit more than 300 male workers and more than 500 female workers, totalling over 800 Myanmar workers.
In addition, more than 800 Myanmar men and women have been invited to work in Japan, according to 313 job offers submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1 to 15 November after verification by the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo.–mt/ZN
