The combined teams managed by the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force nabbed 109 kinds of goods valued at K101,696,100, including 19 electric bikes and 1,403 bottles of nail polish without official documents from a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (estimated value of K28 million) travelling from Taunggyi to Mandalay near Myitnge bridge on the outskirts of Mandalay township on 19 December. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
During inspections on 20 December, the on-duty teams seized 30 kinds of goods worth K4,192,600, including 29 bags of SCG cement (50 kilogrammes each) and 240 bottles of Chang beer without official documents from a motorboat near Thahtay Island in Kawthoung township, four kinds of goods worth K11.568 million including 14,400 bags of Oupai Wipe tissue that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at Asia World Port and a total of 5.378 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K137,510 in Thaboung township. The action was conducted under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
On 21 December, 96 gallons of illegal diesel valued at K850,560 was seized in Thanlyin township, and the action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
Nine arrests were made on three consecutive days from 19 to 21 December, with an estimated value of K146,444,770, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
