About 500,000 pilgrims visit Shwedagon Pagoda in January

About 500,000 domestic and foreign pilgrims visited the Shwedagon Pagoda in January 2024, according to the board of trustees of the Shwedagon Pagoda.
Five hundred forty-three thousand and nine hundred fifty-four visitors, including 12,200 monks, 5,597 nuns, 234,777 male local visitors, 284,450 female visitors, 3,284 male foreigners and 3,646 female foreigners visited the pagoda.
The number of local pilgrims is around 20,000 per day on regular business days, and there are more pilgrims on weekends and major public holidays. In addition, the number of foreign pilgrims is approximately 150 per day, with the most significant number coming from China, Thailand, Viet Nam, America, Europe, and Africa. — TWA/KZL
