100 artworks by 35 late masters shine at Beikthano Gallery

Around 100 artworks by 35 esteemed late masters of art from Myanmar are currently on display at the Beikthano Gallery in Yangon, from 24 February to 16 March 2024. These pieces, spanning various mediums from oil to watercolour and encompassing diverse styles, depict places and peoples from all around the country’s ethnic groups, offering a glimpse into Myanmar’s bygone eras.
Spanning a diverse range of mediums, including oil and watercolour, the exhibition showcases the talent and vision of these revered artists. Each piece offers a unique perspective, capturing scenes and portraits that reflect the cultural richness and heritage of Myanmar.
“Among the highlights of the exhibition are the works of Bagyi Aung Soe (1923-1990) and U Aung Khin (1921-1996), whose art represents a pioneering era of modernistic painting in Myanmar. Their contributions serve as a testament to the evolution and innovation within the country’s artistic landscape,” said Tin Win (Beikthano) who organized the exhibition.
Admission to the gallery is open to all, providing an accessible opportunity for the public to engage with these masterpieces. Located at 113/3 (B), Kaba Aye Pagoda Road, Bahan, Yangon, the Beikthano Gallery invites art enthusiasts and curious minds alike to experience the beauty and depth of Myanmar’s artistic heritage firsthand. — GNLM/KZL
