Confiscations of illegal items: Timbers, industrial materials, consumer goods, foodstuffs and vehicles

During inspections on 11 March, Customs on-duty teams seized nine types of goods valued at K225.45 million from three containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port. These included 1,320 pairs of DJ Fresh solar floodlights with panels and two sets of Ching Kuen Caped Wrapping Paper Machines that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID). Additionally, two types of goods valued at approximately K61 million were seized from two containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint. These goods comprised 50 kilogrammes of measurement equipment exceeding the quantity stated in the ID.
Moreover, two vehicles travelling from Hpa-an to Yangon and from Mawlamyine to Yangon were intercepted. These vehicles, valued at approximately K65 million, were found to be carrying two types of goods worth K12.8 million, including 4,300 Iwachi LED bulbs and 2,160 bags of Smart softener without official documents. These enforcement actions were carried out according to Customs procedures.
On 12 March, joint teams impounded 2,400 bottles of Two-Shrimp brand edible oil and 13,200 bottles of Sponsor juice valued at K16.9 million without official documents in Mawlamyine Township. This action was conducted under Customs procedures.
Furthermore, on the same day, the combined team confiscated 2,000 kilogrammes of fishing nets worth K6 million without official documents in Myeik Township. Additionally, illegal timber weighing 3.592 tonnes and valued at K538,920 was seized in Kanthaya village in Myeik Township. These actions were taken under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 11 arrests were made on 11 and 12 March, with an estimated value of K401.7 million. — MNA/MKKS
