p11 first 1

An explosion occurred on the Kabaung Bridge, a 680-foot-long beam bridge located between Toungoo and Thaungdinegon stations in Toungoo Township, Bago Region, at approximately 8:37 pm on 12 March.
Upon receiving the news, responsible officials and the local security team proceeded to the site for inspection. They found that the brick platform was destroyed, leading to the closure of the railway section between Toungoo and Thaungdinegon.
Following safety measures and a strength test of the bridge, the railway section was reopened at 7:25 the following morning.
Terrorist groups are suspected of mining the bridge. Although the explosion did not cause significant damage, it had the potential to disrupt passenger and cargo transport if the bridge had been destroyed.
Various terrorist groups have been planting mines near railway areas and stations 13 times, exploding railway bridges 50 times, and setting fire to stations and employee housing 12 times since 1 February 2021.
These actions aim to undermine law and order and threaten the safety of travellers, drawing widespread condemnation from the public. — MNA/NT
