Myanmar welcomes 40,000+ foreign visitors in two months

In January and February 2024, Myanmar welcomed over 40,000 foreign travellers, according to the Yangon Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
This indicates an increase of 4,000 visitors compared to the same period last year, with Thailand leading the list of visitor origins.
The country boasts 14 destinations, along with 2,000 hotels, motels, and guesthouses, as well as 500 tour companies and 2,000 licensed tour guides.
U Nanda Aung, director of the directorate, said, “Most visitors were from Thailand, China, and Viet Nam. The most visited destinations include Yangon, Bago, Kyaiktiyo, Bagan, NyaungU, Mandalay, and the beaches.”— ASH/NT
