300 tourists daily visit Taungthaman Lake, U Bein Bridge

About 300 local and foreign travellers now visit Taungthaman Lake and U Bein Bridge, a famous destination in Mandalay Region, on a daily basis and about 150 boats run daily for passengers, said U Soe Win, the secretary of the Taungthaman Boat Association.
Taungthaman Lake and U Bein Bridge are the most popular destinations in Mandalay Region for both local and foreign visitors, and the number of tourists has increased since 1 April.
“The number of local and foreign visitors has increased since early April. There were about 150 visitors daily in January. From 1 April, daily arrivals reached 300. Currently, many people have come to enjoy the sunset beauty of Taungthaman Lake. As the number of boat riders increases, there are about 150 boats daily. We are now making preparations for the coming Taungthaman Lake Thingyan festival,” he said. Most of the domestic visitors to Taungthaman Lake and U Bein Bridge are from Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Taunggyi and Yangon, and visitors from Thailand, Viet Nam and Korea are the top foreign tourists. — ASH/ZN/ED
