Land plot transactions have been inactive again in Hmawby and Taikkyi townships in Yangon Region where land prices have increased these years, and it is expected that the estate market will be active again after Thingyan, according to real estate service agencies.

The property market in the two townships has seen many land transactions in previous months, however the market has been quiet when Thingyan is drawing near. It is predicted that the market will be lively back in next three months.

“The sale has been boring. But we have predicted the market will be fine again in next three months after Thingyan, around April, May or June. The sale was pretty good before Thingyan and now it has been a little slowdown,” said an estate agent based in Hmawby and Taikkyi.

At present, the price of a 20-60 land plot starts at K30 million and goes up to K100million to the maximum depending on location in the townships.

“In Hmawby’s extended wards No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, land plot prices range from K80million to K100million and the minimum is around K35million-K40million. These land plot prices have been stable at present,” he said.
