A donor from Yangon Region is seen donating books to libraries across the country.

The Yangon Region Government held a ceremony on 10 April at the Mingala Hall of the government office for the donation of books and cash to support the development of libraries across Myanmar.
The video clip titled “Towards the Development of Literature” was first shown. In his opening remark, the chief minister of Yangon Region said: “ Literature is the soul of a race, and a race without literature is like a body without a soul. Races with flourishing literature can stand as dignified races. Developed and developing countries are constantly working to promote the development of literature and knowledge. The government is implementing a literacy project, as the literacy rate of rural people is poor. Literacy benefits not only individuals but also the social, economic, political, and cultural aspects of the community and the country. From literacy, we must develop the habit of reading literature”.
Afterwards, Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister U Htay Aung explained the development activities of libraries in the region, and donors donated cash and books. — TWA/TH
