ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies meeting held

Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Maung Maung Win attended the ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting and related meetings virtually held by Cambodia yesterday morning.
The meeting discussed matters related to finding ways to work together to ensure long-term sustainability and development in the post-COVID-19 period, ASEAN financial cooperation issues working towards an inclusive and solid environment, progress of the Roadmap for Monetary and Financial Integration of ASEAN (RIA-Fin) and priorities. The deputy minister and the deputy governors exchanged views on their experiences in each country.
The meeting also discussed plans to push forward recovery efforts in the post-COVID-19 period and ensure long-term sustainable development. The cooperation between the ASEAN Finance and the Central Banks becomes more critical for the regional economy, the ASEAN Blueprint 2025 implementation status and the progress of financial collaboration between the ASEAN countries.
ASEAN financial cooperation issues include regional capital liberalization in the ASEAN region, capital market development issues, matters relating to the implementation of the ASEAN Financial Cooperation Framework Agreement, inclusiveness in the financial sector and the development of payment and clearing systems.
The deputy minister also attended the meeting of the ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies and the US Department of Treasury held virtually yesterday. They discussed the situation of digital finance in Myanmar. The ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting to be held in 2023 will be hosted by Indonesia. Cambodia is hosting ASEAN meetings in 2022, and this year’s theme is “ASEAN A.C.T: Addressing Challenges Together”.—MNA
