State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, who is also Chairman of the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods, attended the 2/2024 meeting of the central committee in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
At the meeting, the General said the relevant committees should supervise successively for the public to be able to purchase fuel at fairer prices and to sell as per the reference prices by the business people. Moreover, it also prevents the illegal trade of fuel from occurring. There were seizures of 14.247 tonnes of illegal fuel valued at K47.992 million in regions and states in February 2024.
Moreover, CCTV link connections were also installed at eight fuel terminals and 591 fuel stations in regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw, between 14 November 2023 and 29 February 2024. Similarly, 542 CCTV cameras were installed at 52 tollgates in regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw, to be able to know the passing of fuel bowser trucks in a timely manner.
He also talked about the drafting of a software application for people to easily access the sorts of fuel and prices at the fuel stations online, the pilot project at over 300 fuel stations in Yangon and Mandalay in March, the release of weekly basic reference prices and the systematic palm oil distribution across the nation.
He added that the country received export earnings of US$283.36 million, 321.80 million yuan and 876.15 million baht from 1,301 companies between October 2023 and February 2024. It received only $45.14 million, 109 million yuan and 187.67 million from 215 companies compared to the same period from October 2022 to February 2023. It showed an increase of $238.22 million, 212.80 million yuan and 688.48 million baht received from 1,086 companies compared to the same period.
He also pointed out the need to follow the decisions made at the 1/2024 meeting regarding export and import financial policies and duties of ministries concerned to supervise the export so as to meet the target in the 2023-2024 FY.
Then, he pledged that the central committee would explore the difficulties of exporters in promoting the export volumes and added that the relevant ministries should report the challenges and delays in the trading sector to find solutions.
He finally gave proper instructions after hearing the reports of central committee members and attendees and concluded the meeting. — MNA/KTZH
