ASEAN Plus Three Tourism Training, Education Network Forum held

ASEAN Plus Three Tourism Training and Education Network–APTTTEN Forum 2021 was hosted by Indonesia on 23 and 24 November through a videoconference system.
Chinese, Japanese and Korean tourism authorities, representatives from the ASEAN Member States, representatives from Hospitality and Tourism Universities and Vocational Training Schools and some 710 representatives from private tourism organizations and tourism operators joined the virtual conference.
Director-General of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar and officials from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, faculty members from Mandalay University (Mandalay) and National Management Degree College (Yangon), representatives from the Tourism Development Center (Yangon) and the Myanmar Tourism Federation and fraternities also attended the conference.
On the first day of the forum, Indonesian Minister for Tourism Dr H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno delivered the keynote speech and launched APTTTEN Directory Website.
Officials discussed tourism matters under the theme of the forum named “The Strategic Partnership Collaboration: Link and Match with Industry and Scholar Community”.
ASEAN tourism authorities focused on strategic cooperation between tourism and training organizations, difficulties and obstacles encountered, and the development of sustainable tourism in the region with qualified human resources.
ASEAN Tourism Training and Education Network (ATTEN) to be implemented by ASEAN countries plus China, South Korea and Japan, collaboration with tourism private sector and universities and vocational schools of Tourism is essential, according to the forum.
Proposals to increase cooperation with the tourism private sector and universities and vocational schools were made and Roundtable meetings were held over two days to discuss the current activities of 25 universities and vocational schools in the ASEAN.
On the second day of the forum, ASEAN, China, Japan and South Korea Tourism Authorities discussed drawing up and implementing Action Plan.
APTTTEN Future Strategic Planning, implementation and monitoring issues were also discussed and the results of the forum will be presented to the ASEAN Tourism Authority meeting in December 2021. —MNA
