ASEAN-ROK economic ties highlighted at roundtable talks

Myanmar’s delegate joined the ASEAN–Korea Trade and Investment Roundtable 2024 discussion held at Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul on 8 May, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
U Thant Sin, Myanmar Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, who assumes the alternate chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul, represented the nation at the meeting. At the meeting, he reflected on ASEAN and ROK’s 35 years of dialogue partnership, highlighting the importance of economic relationships in deepening bilateral friendship.
ASEAN is ROK’s second largest trade partner, whereas ROK stands as ASEAN’s fifth largest trade partner and sixth biggest investor, according to the 2022 figures. So, he looked forward to the implementation of policies for mutual benefits from the meeting.
The ASEAN-Korea Centre has convened the ASEAN-Korea Trade and Investment Roundtable jointly with the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy four times, including this year. — ASH/NT
