Bagan welcomes nearly two mln visitors in Jan-Oct 2023

From January to October of 2023, nearly two million domestic travellers and tourists visited the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone, according to Assistant Director U Myo Min Aung of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Bagan Branch).
During the period, nearly two million domestic and foreign tourists visited the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone, including more than ten thousand international tourists.
“The influx of domestic and foreign tourists to Bagan’s ancient cultural heritage area has been increasing since 2022. The arrival of domestic tourists is the highest, especially during the New Year period, Thingyan period, Thadingyut, Tazaungdine, and December holidays. Since 2022, there have been domestic travellers,” said U Myo Min Aung.
Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone is the most attractive place for tourists and domestic travellers. From January to October of last year (2022), about one million domestic and foreign tourists arrival, and the arrival of internal and external travellers from January to October this year was about 50 per cent more than the previous year. — ASH/TKO
