Central bank governor attends BOG meeting, governors’ conference of SEACEN Centre

The 41st SEACEN (South-East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Research and Training Centre) Board of Governors – BOG meeting co-organized by the SEACEN Centre and the Central Bank of Viet Nam was held yesterday morning and the 57th SEACEN Governors’ Conference/High-Level Seminar yesterday afternoon through videoconferencing.
Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Than Nyein, the deputy governors, and senior officials of the Central Bank of Myanmar, together with the Governors of the SEACEN Member Central Banks, attended the meeting and the conference.
At the meeting, Executive Director of SEACEN Dr Mangal Goswami presented the training, workshops, seminars and meetings that were held online in 2021, attendance status of trainees, sector budget situation, update status on SEACEN staffing issues and situation of SEACEN Additional Scholarships (SAS) in 2021. Governors of the SEACEN Member Central Banks instructed further activities regarding the implementation of ICT strategic projects under the auspices of SEACEN Centre for the financial year 2020-2022, priorities and budget for the year 2022, implementation of ICT strategic projects for the 2022-2023 FY, organization scorecard of the centre in 2021, appointment of the senior advisor to the centre, and governance and leadership matters.
At the conference, current Chair of the SEACEN Centre Governor of the Central Bank of Viet Nam Madam Nguyen Thi Hong discussed the “Digitalization of the Financial System- Implications for Central Banks” and the Governors of the respective central banks exchanged views on the discussion.
The conference also discussed topics such as “Blockchain Technology Redefining Banking and Digitalization of Money and Payments”, “the Future of Money: How the Digital Revolution is Transforming Currencies and Finance.” The 42nd meeting of the SEACEN Centre and the 58th SEACEN Governors Conference will be held in Cambodia in 2022. — MNA
