The three-day coconut-based products expo and competition will be held in Pathein city from 22 to 24 January, showcasing coconut-based food products, cosmetics, consumer goods, and handicrafts at the event.
The expo organizing committee will cover the accommodation, food, and travel costs for each entrepreneur, in addition to providing a free expo booth.
Enthusiastic exhibitors are invited to join by contacting the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization (Ayeyawady Region) at Ph: 09 422468570 / 09 794527381 by 18 January.
Myanmar has been implementing the “Potential Product (coconut) Value Chain” project under the ACEMES-ROK Fund since May 2023 until April 2024, according to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization. Under that fund, the “Potential Product (coconut) Value Chain” project also includes coconut handicraft courses in the Ayeyawady Region.
This course offers practical approaches to turn waste coconut shells into a marketable craft that is commercially valued. The trainees will learn the know-hows of choosing coconut shells, designing and cutting, polishing, drying, and decorating with the use of equipment step by step. A basic drawing subject will be included as well.
The trainees have to practically make coconut crafts such as lamps, DIY lamp shades, curtains, necklaces, keychains, and earrings. They will receive a completion certificate. — NN/EM
