Confiscated illegal items: Industrial materials, consumer goods and vehicles

In a concerted effort to combat illegal trade activities, the Shan State Illegal Trade Eradication special Task Force conducted inspections on 26 January, apprehending 12 vehicles en route from Muse to Mandalay. The cars were found to transport 33 types of goods valued at K82.1 million. Among the seized items were 48-wheel rims with tyres and 600 pairs of baby shoes, lacking official documentation. The interception occurred near the detour of Lashio township and was carried out as per Customs procedures.
Similarly, on 26 and 27 January, the on-duty teams overseen by the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication special Task Force seized an unregistered Nissan Wingroad vehicle and an unregistered Toyota Lucida car, approximately valued at K16 million, at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Monywa. Additionally, at the Yadanabon Bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing township, seven types of goods worth approximately K25.3 million were confiscated. These included 1,690 kilogrammes of sodium cyanide and 450 litres of hydrogen peroxide, all lacking official documentation. The operations were conducted in compliance with Customs procedures.
According to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, 30 arrests were made on 26 and 27 January, with an estimated value of K263.4 million. — MNA/MKKS
