Confiscated illegal items: Timbers, foodstuffs and vehicle

On 31 December, a team on duty managed by the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated a Mitsubishi Canter (estimated value of K20 million) travelling from Thaton to Belin. The vehicle was carrying eight types of goods valued at K17.65 million. The seizure took place near a police station in Theinseik and was carried out under the Customs procedures.
On 1 January, joint teams seized 4.219 tonnes of illegal teak, 0.537 tonne of illegal hardwood, and 23.114 tonnes of illegal other timbers, valued at about K2.474 million in Bago district. Additionally, 1.033 tonnes of illegal teak worth K681,912 were captured in Nyaunglebin township. This action was conducted under the Forest Law.
According to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, three arrests were made on 31 December and 1 January, involving an estimated value of K40.806 million. — MNA/MKKS
