The on-duty teams supervised by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated a Hyundai bus (estimated value of K25 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying four kinds of goods worth K5.25 million, including 50,000 envelopes without official documents at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station on 26 November. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 28 November, the combined teams seized a Nissan Condor truck and a Nissan Diesel truck (approximately K40 million), heading to Mawlamyine from Myawady, carrying seven types of goods valued at K48.53 million, including 1,600 bottles of Two-Shrimp brand palm oil (five-litre bottle) without official documents on Kyakalay- Zathapyin-Mawlamyine road. The action was conducted under Customs procedures.
On the same day, the joint teams impounded 560 gallons of informal diesel worth K940,800 without official documents in Monywa township, a total of 0.505 tonne of illegal teak worth K333,828 in Sagaing township and 0.497 tonne of illicit teak in Ottarathiri township. These actions were taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law and the Forest Law.
Similarly, the on-duty teams captured a Mitsubishi express bus (approximately K30 million) heading to Mandalay from Myawady, carrying two kinds of goods worth K2.85 million, including 4,950 bags of Wai Wai instant vermicelli without official documents, at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint, a Mitsubishi Canter vehicle (estimated value of K25 million), travelling from Myawady to Hpa-an, carrying five types of goods worth K10.15 million, including 10,500 bags of Yum Yum instant noodle and 720 plastic baskets without official documents, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint and a Dongfeng tractor head with a trailer (estimated value of K90 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying two kinds of goods approximately valued at K21.94 million, including 5,900 kilogrammes of thickening agent that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID), at the Ywathagyi Dry Port. These actions were conducted under Customs procedures.
Nineteen arrests were made on 26 and 28 November, with an estimated value of K300,323,508, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
