Departmental officials sent to Sittway to perform relief, rehabilitation activities

A extremely severe cyclonic storm Mocha crossed the coast of Myanmar near Sittway on 14 May, causing damage and losses.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, a total of 36 departmental heads and officials from the Road Transport Administration Department, Marine Administration Department, Civil Aviation Department, Department of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems, Myanma Port Authority, Inland Water Transport, Myanma Railways, and Myanma Posts and Telecommunications were sent to Sittway on the morning of 15 May by Myanmar National Airlines to deliver relief aid and materials to Rakhine State in time, install the necessary equipment, including runway lights, so that Sittway Airport can be used at any time day or night, and restore transport and communications to normal as soon as possible. — MNA/CT
