Director-General of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department elected as General Secretary of Asia, Far East and Oceania Region at 88th OIE General Session

The 88th General Session of the World Assembly of National Delegates of the OIE held from 24 and 28 May via videoconferencing in Paris of French.
The assembly shared animal health information and discussed matters pertaining to animal health and welfare, measures to improve animal diseases, regulations to apply set by OIE for disease prevention in trading animal and animal products, and approved the OIE 7th Strategic Plan 2021-2025. Director-General for Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department Dr Ye Tun Win joined the assembly.
The assembly elected the officials for the positions of Director-General, council member, other vacant for the bureau of four commissions and five regional commissions by secret vote. Then, Director-General Dr Ye Tun Win was selected as General Secretary of Asia, Far East, and Oceania.
The Regional Commission for Asia, far East and Oceania will have to carry out the issues in order to follow the rules for animal health set by OIE in member countries, promote the roles of regional experts and cooperate with the Tokyo and Bangkok based OIE offices on communicating with other member countries during three years term (2021-2023). — MNA
