DPM UM inspects locomotive, carriage factories

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo inspects functions of carriage factory of MR yesterday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, along with deputy minister and officials, inspected locomotive and carriage factories in Sagaing and Mandalay regions yesterday.
The General first visited the Myanma Railways Diesel-powered Locomotive Factory (Ywahtaung) in Sagaing and received a comprehensive clarification from officials. The clarification covered the factory’s historical background, locomotive maintenance practices, annual objectives, and production capacities.
The Union Minister gave instructions for capacity-building and further development and observed the training systems, textbooks, learning equipment, and lecture hall at the mechanical training school in the factory.
The General inspected maintenance of engines and bodies, electrical systems, and production of spare parts for locomotives.
He also visited the Myanma Railways’ 25-bed hospital and observed patients receiving treatments. Then, the Union Minister checked the Ywataung station.
Their trip continued to the Myanma Railways’ Home for the Aged in Ywahtaung where the Union Minister offered contributions.
In the afternoon, the General travelled to Amarapura Township in Mandalay to inspect the Myanma Railways’ Passenger Coaches and Wagons Workshop (Myitnge).
The officials presented status updates in accord with the guidance of the Head of State, major maintenance of carriages, and the production of new coaches and wagons.
The Union Minister inspected the new carriages, repair works on the older ones, and assembly of bogie airbags.
The Union Minister and party finally visited the 50-bed hospital for Myanma Railways staff in Myitnge to comfort the patients and donate food.—MNA/NT
