A coordination meeting was held yesterday to repair the 12 damaged towers along the 230-kV An-MraukU-Ponnagyun National Grid and the meeting was attended by Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han, the director-general, the deputy director-general and officials.
The Union minister and party inspected the damaged towers, clear-up measures and reconstruction materials.
A task force of 420 skilled staff was mobilized to undertake repair works in Sittway, MraukU and Ponnagyun. A total of 600 skilled staff from northern and southern Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Magway and Ayeyawady Regions were deployed to carry out reconstruction works in Sittway. Restoration of electricity distribution for the whole of northern Rakhine State will be reportedly completed by the end of May.
