A pregnant woman who was trapped in the fighting area and sent to hospital under the arrangement of the Rakhine State Government has successfully delivered twin baby boys, the Rakhine State Government said on 26 November.
Locals from Thawun Chaung village in Pauktaw township, where AA has recently attacked civilian targets, requested assistance from the Rakhine State Government on 24 November to hospitalize an expectant mother with an abnormal pregnancy.
“As it is within the operation area, they were given a way-out to provide assistance after State Chief Minister coordinated with the Military Commander, the Commander of Regional Control Command and the Navy. After communicating with Ko Aung Aung Than from Myitta Yaung Gyi Social Society, the pregnant woman from Thawun Chaung village was transferred to Sittway General Hospital yesterday evening,” a post on the Facebook page of Rakhine State Advocate-General U Hla Thein stated.
“Everyone can be happy now. How will we name these twin brothers who were born in a very difficult situation to transport,” he wrote.
Starting on the morning of 13 November, AA has launched attacks in Rakhine State causing deep concern among Rakhine residents who want to live in peace that the conflict in some areas will escalate.
