False news accuses Tatmadaw of attacking Pa-O villages without conflicts

3

Malicious media outlets have circulated misinformation on social media alleging that Tatmadaw attacked villages east of Bannyin Town in Hsihseng Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, Shan State (South), using heavy weapons 16 times without conflicts on 8 February, resulting in the displacement of residents.
According to reports from a responsible official and residents, the Pa-O National Liberation Army, Karenni Nationalities Defence Force, and self-proclaimed People’s Defence Force terrorists invaded Bannyin Town.
When the residents fled the town, terrorists reportedly looted the houses and shops and abducted villagers.
Tatmadaw and Pa-O National Organization (militia) troops engaged with the terrorists. Terrorists apparently attacked the villages with heavy weapons and dropped bombs from drones, resulting in civilian injuries and casualties.
Malicious media outlets reportedly distort reality to mislead the public. — MNA/NT
