Fisheries Dept announces 15 storm shelters for fishermen

The Fisheries Department has allocated 15 storm shelters for fishermen at sea during the rainy season.
These shelters include Mingan Creek in Sittway Township, Rakhine State, Phayonga Island in Pauktaw Township, Ngalepway Creek in Kyaukpyu Township, Hsingaung Port in Thandwe Township, Andrew Bay, the wharf in Taungup Township and Amawchaing in Tintaw Village-tract, Gwa Township.
Additionally, there are shelters at Hainggyi Island in Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Region; Chaungwa Village in Pyinkhayaing of Ngaputaw Township; Kadonkani Village in Bogale Township; Wah Island in Ye Township; Middle Moscos and South Moscos islands in Launglon Township in Taninthayi Region; Taninthayi Island in Myeik Township; and Pyinsabu Island in Kyunsu Township.
The department has also cautioned against fishing near the islands under the guise of seeking shelter from storms. — TWA/NT
