A forum to enhance the digital skills of Mekong-Lancang MSMEs was held yesterday morning at Office No 30 of the Ministry of Industry in Nay Pyi Taw.
MoI Deputy Minister U Yin Maung Nyunt in his capacity as Secretary of the Work Committee on Development of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Mr Ouyang Daobing, Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar, directors-general and managing directors from the Ministry of Industry, the vice-chairman of the Mekong-Lancang Coordination Team, the deputy director-general from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from the ministries, representatives and experts from the Mekong-Lancang region attended the forum.
The deputy minister said in his speech that digital technology could present MSMEs with a variety of excellent opportunities and make it easier for them to grow their businesses and enter new markets. He also said that MSMEs could improve their businesses, win more new markets or market shares, and make transactions with global clients if they could effectively adapt to the digital markets.
Counsellor Mr Ouyang Daobing from the Chinese Embassy expressed his hope that good techniques and opinions would be shared in the forum as MSMEs development measures in Mekong-Lancang countries were started seven years ago.
The Mekong-Lancang Coordination Team vice-chair deputy director-general from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the cooperation between Mekong-Lancang nations is based on three pillars of peaceful co-existence between member states, collaborations in business and cultural exchange.
E-business models and concepts, good practices of MSMEs in Mekong-Lancang nations in the transition to a digital business system and innovations, digital business system strategies and management, technology requirements in the transition to a digital business system, and steps that Mekong-Lancang nations should take to prepare for the transition to a digital business system, the most required digital skills for MSMEs and challenges will be discussed in the forum for two days. Groups will be formed during the forum to draft action plans for the transition to a digital business system and the results will be discussed. — MNA/TH
