A ceremony for the handing over No 8 Industrial Training Centre (Thaton) was held at the Ministry of Industry yesterday.
It was attended by Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, directors-general, managing directors and deputy directors-general of the Ministry of Industry, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of India Mr Ashish Sharma and relevant officials, liaison officer Ms Yadav, General Manager of HMT International Ltd Mr Y K Vaish and relevant officials.
A video clip featuring the implementation processes of No 8 Industrial Training Centre (Thaton) was screened at the ceremony. Then, the Union Minister for Industry delivered a speech stressing that the No 8 Industrial Training Centre (Thaton) was jointly established by Myanmar and HMT (International) Ltd (India) with the support of the Indian government, and it will benefit Myanmar’s industrial sector and promote the human resources by providing modern technological courses.
It is also the eighth achievement of the Ministry of Industry in Myanmar’s TVET sector development process, and the very first rubber technology course will be offered at the centre. It is also the first industrial training centre opened in lower Myanmar.
The Union minister then expressed gratitude to the Indian government for establishing an industrial training centre to provide quality vocational skills to Myanmar’s young people and grow their economic status.
Then, the deputy ambassador of mission of the Embassy of India said India has been providing necessary assistance in establishing the No 4 Industrial Training Centre (Pakokku), No 6 Industrial Training Centre (Myingyan) and No 8 Industrial Training Centre (Thaton) for the development of Myanmar’s industrial sector and to create job opportunities and improve the quality of the products.
Moreover, arrangements are being made to open the No 7 Industrial Training Centre (Monywa), and he pledged that the Indian government would continue to support Myanmar in developing its industrial sector firmly. The general manager of HMT International Ltd and the director-general of the Directorate of Industrial Collaboration expressed gratitude and signed the No 8 Industrial Training Centre (Thaton) handing over.
The centre will offer rubber technology, CNC, machinist, electrician, welder and IT courses, and it already launched two short-term skills-based training courses. The plans are underway to open one-year regular training courses this year. — MNA/KTZH
