Historical Park to be built at Kanbawzathadi Palace, related land plot

The Department of Archaeology and National Museum has a plan to place a location of a historical park in the area of the Kanbawzathadi Palace and related land plot in Bago township, Bago Region while emphasizing the cultural heritage identification and preservation projects.

At present, the department is carrying out preservation of cultural heritages of Kanbawzathadi Palace and ancient Hanthawady city and maintenance of the eastern walls of ancient Hanthawady City and walls and moat on both sides of the Inwa Gate.

An emphasis is being placed on renovation of the ground tier-roofed building and Bamayathana throne hall, carving of King Bayinnaung wooden statue, maintenance of teak posts found in excavation of the palace place. In addition, a plan is underway to build the historical park in the Kanbawzathadi Palace and related land plot meeting the international standard.

Similarly, the Bago Region Cultural Museum and Library will be opened in this Historical Park, and the Hanthawady Archeological Museum is also being upgraded to a digital museum.— ASH/MKKS
