The Rakhine State teeming with hilly areas, valuable rivers, creeks, lakes and islands as a region to produce invaluable natural products for the country located in the western part of the Union likes a great fortress guarding the western gate of the nation.
Despite poor facilities in the transport sector, local ethnic nationals residing in the Rakhine State are still maintaining their lands, engaging in agriculture, livestock and breeding and fishery for solving the livelihoods of their families.
Thanks to ethnic national brethren including Rakhine ethnics in Rakhine State, Myanmar’s western border can be safe for various penetrations. Those people in the Rakhine State also take preventive measures with their own culture and traditions against alien culture. Hence, it can be seen till today that fine arts, songs, traditions and culture of various national races including Rakhine ethnics residing in the Rakhine State are fresh, impressive and active for audiences.
The Rakhine State possesses a long history of ancient Rakhine ethnic nationals with abundant cultural heritages. As the historical evidence proves that Rakhine literature has been flourishing since the Danyawady era, it is a state possessing invaluable ancient cultural heritage in literature, culture and customs arenas.
Since the time from the reigns of ancient Rakhine kings to date, Buddhist monks and layman authors, as well as Rakhine national scholars and professionals, have emerged one after another in the Rakhine State. And, it should take pride in those Rakhine nationals who served the State interests.
Buddhism has been flourishing in the Rakhine State. Hence, efforts are being made for putting the MraukU region where a lot of religious edifices mushroom into the list of world cultural heritage cities. In honour of residents and the Rakhine State, the Rakhine State Day which falls on 15 December every year has been celebrated since 1975. That is why all Rakhine ethnic people as well as various national races in Rakhine State are responsible for the sustainability of images of Rakhine nationals and the Rakhine State. All ethnic nationals are urged to perpetually serve the interests of the Rakhine State and the Union through the Union spirit and the patriotic spirit.
