Illegal consumer goods, industrial materials, foodstuffs and vehicles confiscated

The Customs teams under the supervision of the Customs Department conducted inspections on 6,8 and 9 October and nabbed three kinds of goods worth K3.96 million including 72 remote-control toy cars that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container and 700 sets of gasoline engine worth K59.5 million that were not declared in the ID from three containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, 15,000 kilogrammes of cement ceiling board worth K3.8 million from a vehicle at the Myawady Trade Zone, a Sein Tun MPV and a Nissan Caravan (approximately K50 million), headed to Yangon from Myawady, carrying 640 sets of laser toner cartridge worth K5.12 million without official documents at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint and six kinds of goods worth K7,065,450 including 210 kilogrammes of Fancy lady wallets that were not declared in the ID from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 7 October, an on-duty team confiscated an Isuzu Giga truck and a Dongfeng tractor head with a trailer (estimated value of K135 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying two kinds of goods worth K37,944,345 including 250 pairs of shoes and 6,875 kilogrammes of Super colour hair shampoo that were not declared in the ID near Zero Mile on Yangon-Mandalay highway road. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined team captured a Toyota HiAce (estimated value of K20 million), headed to Myawady from Zathapyin, carrying eight kinds of goods worth K3.255 million including 84 boxes of Choco Pie snack and 600 bottles of C-Vitt energy drink without official documents near Kyakalay village on Kyakalay-Zathapyin- Mawlamyine road on 8 October. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
As a result, a total of 16 arrests were made on four consecutive days from 6 to 9 October, with an estimated value of K325,644,795, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
