Illegal consumer goods, vehicles seized

A combined team under the supervision of Customs Department conducted inspection at Myanmar Industrial Port container checkpoint on 23 December. They seized two kinds of goods including 1,000 Thermos bottles estimated at K5,975,000 from a container, which were more than Import Declaration. Moreover, officials nabbed two kinds of goods including 3,800 shopping bags worth K5.04 million and a Nissan Diesel vehicle worth K 4 million from near the Ywathagyi toll gate, Myawady-Hpa-an-Yangon Highway No 2. The total seizure amounted to K 51,015,000 and the action was taken under the Customs Procedure.
Similarly, a combined team under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Special Force of Kayin State performed inspection at Myawady trade zone. They seized 21,570 pairs of PE slippers worth K4,550,770 carried more than ID and action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, value of seizures amounted to K55,565,770 on 23 December, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.—MNA
