Illegal consumer goods, vehicles, timbers seized in regions/states

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken against illegal trades under the law in regions and states.
A combined inspection team led by the Customs Department conducted inspections at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint in Mon State on 25 January and confiscated undocumented consumer goods (estimated value of K10,270,000) from a bus, and action is being taken under the Customs Law.
A combined inspection team led by the Department of Forest under the management of the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Force conducted an inspection, following a report, and arrested 77.286 tonnes of Gum-kino wood (estimated value of K23,185,800) from three ownerless boats in the Thanlwin River and action is being taken under the Forest Law.
The Hpa-an Customs Inspection Team also seized food items (estimated value of K840,000) and the carrier (Toyota HiAce) (estimated value of K19,000,000), which was on the way to Mawlamyine from Myawady during a surprise inspection.
In addition, 200 baskets of China-made chocolate cakes (estimated value of K4,000,000) were also confiscated on a road near the Yepu permanent checkpoint in Shan State and action is being taken under the Customs Law.
A combined team led by the Myanmar Police Force under the management of the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Force conducted inspections and seized illegal jade stones (333.51 kilogrammes), and action is being taken under the Myanmar Gems Law.
The Department of Customs in the Bago Region also seized consumer goods (estimated value of K1,790,000) during a surprise check near Shwe Thanlwin tollgate, and action is being taken under the Customs Law.
On 26 January, 9.5964 tonnes of illegal timbers (estimated value of K1,253,192) were seized in the forest reserves in Bago District and Toungoo District, in Bago Region, and action is being taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, on 25 and 26 January, there was a total of 11 cases (estimated value of K60,338,992) and 333.51 kilogrammes of jade, the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee stated. – MNA
