Illegal cooking oil, construction materials, vehicles impounded

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illicit trade under the law.
A combined inspection team under the supervision of the Customs Department, led by on-duty custom team investigated at Myanmar Port Container checkpoint on 5 August. They seized seven vehicles (estimated K164.6 million), which are imported without compliance with the rules and regulations and action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal trade special task force of Sagaing Region, led by the Myanmar Police Force on 5 and 6 August. They seized two vehicles (estimated K4 million), which are without license in Kanbalu and Sagaing townships and action was taken under Import and Export Law.
Likewise, under the supervision of Customs Department, a combined team searched at Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint on 6 August. They found Ceiling Boards (estimated K1,776,000), which are carried more than declaration ID on a truck, which is driven from Myawady to Yangon. And a Nissan Diesel Tractor Head (estimated K60 million). And the team searched an express bus, which is driven from Myawady to Mandalay. They found vegetable oils valued at about K6 million, without official documents and a Sunlong vehicle estimated K40 million, which is carrying illegal goods. Also, the team searched an express which is driven from Mawlamyine to Yangon and they found vegetable oil estimated K7.9 million, without official documents and an Anhui Ankai vehicle estimated K40 million, which is carrying the goods. Total worth of seizures amounted to K155,676,000 and action was taken under the Customs Law.
And then, under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal task force of Bago region, led by the Myanmar Police Force searched at mileposts No (6/3) and (6/4) on Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Thabyekan village in Kawa township on 7 August. The team seized two Toyota Probox Succeed vehicles worth K6 million and action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
So, a total of 18 cases (estimated value of K330,276,000) were taken action from 5 to 7 August, according to the Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
