Illegal foodstuffs, consumer goods, electronics, industrial materials, car parts and vehicles confiscated

A combined team at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint confiscated K284,801,000 worth of foodstuffs, clothes, sandals and motorbike parts that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from three vehicles and two trailers (estimated value of K270 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady on 11 February. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 12 February, officials at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint captured 5,000 kilogrammes of MDF board that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) and three kinds of goods, including 600 rice cookers and 50 pieces of luggage, worth K16,650,000 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from two vehicles and two trailers (approximately K230 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady and two kinds of goods, including 100 cartons of Lactasoy soy milk, worth K2 million without official documents from a vehicle (estimated value of K20 million) heading to Nyaunglebin from Myawady. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, officials led by the Myanmar Police Force seized an unregistered Yamaha DT motorbike (approximately K500,000) in Monywa township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Therefore, 13 arrests (at an estimated value of K553,951,000) were made on 11 and 12 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
