Illegal foodstuffs, consumer goods, industrial raw materials, vehicles confiscated

A combined team under the supervision of Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Mandalay Region made inspections on 2 February and seized four items of goods including 1,980 kilogrammes of Gel Ink Pen estimated at K 24,220,000 and a Howo Sino Tractor and trailer worth K7 million, amounting to K 94.22 million on Mandalay-PyinOoLwin highway and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a combined team under the supervision of Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Mon State made inspections on 2 February and nabbed 1,100 kilogrammes of Cotton Fabric without official documents estimated at K 1,595,000 and a Toyota Dyna estimated at K18 million at Mayanchaung checkpoint. The officials also confiscated four kinds of goods including 15 cartons of Golden Mountain Oyster Sause estimated at K 2,671,750 and a Toyota Hilux Pick Up approximately K 15 million from a vehicle driven from Hpa-an to Bago amounting to K 37,266,750 in toto on 4 February and the action was taken under the Customs Procedure.
Next, a combined team the led by Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Kayin State made inspections on 4 February and seized 200 cartons of Singha beer, 200 cartons of Lactasoy, 198 cartons of Lipovitan and 15 cartons of Bingo Star cat feeds estimated at K 12,350,000 and a Mitsubishi Fuso worth K 20 million without official documents at Thanlwin Bridge checkpoint. The total seizure amounted to K32.35 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedure.
Furthermore, Muse district Illegal Goods Prevention Team under the supervision of Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Shan State made a casual inspection to garages in Myayni truck terminal in Muse and seized 99 Loujia brand motorcycles estimated at K 99 million and a Dong Feng vehicle estimated at K 2 million, amounting to K119 million in total and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, 11 arrests (at an estimated value of K282,836,750) were made from 2 to 4 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. —MNA/KZW
