Illegal forest products, electronic accessories, consumer goods and vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken against offenders to prevent illicit trade under the law.
An on-duty team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Taninthayi Region inspected at Pauktine bridge checkpoint in Dawei township on 21 September. Officials found 790 Nanakid carminative capsules untaxed worth K1,896,000 from a vehicle and 2,000 visses of charcoal bags without clearance worth K945,000. Moreover, the team found 148 fertilizer bags untaxed estimated at K11.84 million and a Nissan truck which was carrying the goods estimated at K22 million on 24 September. The total worth of seizures amounted to K36.681 million and the action was taken under the National Drug Laws, Customs Procedure and Forest Law.
Similarly, a mobile team from Investigation and Anti-Illicit Trade Division under the supervision of the Customs Department performed inspection in the Myawady-Hpa-an-Yangon Road at the junction of No 2 Highway near Zayatkwin village in Hlegu Township on 22 September. The team found toilet accessories and bed sheets that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) and were worth K3,008,181 and a Nissan tractor vehicle which was carrying the goods estimated at K45 million. Total worth of seizures amounted to K48,008,181 and the action was taken under the Customs Procedure.
Furthermore, an on-duty team under the supervision of Customs Department inspected at the airport cargo warehouse at the Yangon International Airport on 23 September. They found 59 killogrammes of wires worth K13,582,401 and consumer goods worth K11,117,400, which were not declared in the ID. The team also found 86,700 kilogrammes of Hock & Tag at an estimated value of K1,413,720, which were not declare in the ID in a container at the checkpoint of Myanmar Industrial Port. The total worth of seizures amounted to K26,113,521 and the action were taken under the Customs Procedure.
An on-duty team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Kayin State inspected at the checkpoint of Kawkareik (Thadakyo) on 24 September. Officials found 26 water heaters (estimated at K1.56 million), which were not declared in the ID from a vehicle and the action was taken under the Customs Procedure.
Next, an on-duty team under the supervision of Customs Department functioned inspections at Mayanchaung checkpoint of Mon State on 24 September. The team seized a Daihatsu Hijet S500J worth K8 million without licence and the action was taken under the Customs Procedure.
Therefore, 10 cases at an estimated value of K120,362,702 were taken action from 21 to 24 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
