Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken against offenders to prevent illicit trade under the law.
An on-duty inspection team under the supervision of the Customs Department inspected at the airport cargo garage at the Yangon International Airport on 1 September. Officials found 200 cans of Leica Paraplast Plus at an estimated value of K3.5 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a combined team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal trade task force of Sagaing Region, led by Myanmar Police Force searched a Yamaha motorcycle without licence estimated K700,000 in Shwebo and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A combined team comprising official of the Customs department conducted inspection at the Asia World Container Inspection Camp on 2 September. They seized household electronic devices estimated K1,445,000 from a container, not declared at the ID and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Furthermore, an on-duty inspection team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Shan State performed inspection at Mehan checkpoint on Lashio detour. They found cartons of Dali Beers and Loutus flower detergents without official documents, estimated at K12.11 million and a Nissan 12-wheel truck, estimated at K20 million. The total worth of the seizures amounted to K32.11 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
At Myanmar Industrial Port container inspection camp, a combined team from officials of various departments found industrial materials, which were not included in ID from a container estimated at K11.76 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a combined team led by Bago Region Forest Department served inspection at Khabaung forest reserve in Ottwin Township of Toungoo District. They found 3.7596 tonnes of illegal teak estimated at K1,843,776 and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
A combined team under the super vision of Customs Department of Shan State conducted inspection at Yaypu checkpoint on 3 September. They found a Suzuki swift estimated at K6 million near the Yaypu checkpoint and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, nine cases at estimated value of K57,358,776 were taken action from 1 to 3 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
