Illegal teak, foodstuff, fuel, cooking oil, vehicles seized this week

Under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.
A combined team led by Insein Township Forest Department under supervision of Yangon Region Combined Inspection Special Task Force performed a surprise check near the airport traffic light, Yangon-Pyay Road, Yangon North District on 21 April.
During their inspection, 4.1102 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated at K1,233,060) and one Mitsubishi Canter Box truck carrying the timber (estimated at K25 million) and approximately K26,233,060 in total were seized and action is being taken in accordance with the forest law.
Similarly, the Bago Township Customs Department under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Task Force conducted a surprise check between Nyaungkhashe and DaikU, Bago Region on 22 April.
One undocumented food (approximately K1.48 million) and one Foton View Mini Bus (estimated at K10 million) and K11.480 million in total on one passenger bus driving from Myawady to Toungoo were seized and action is being taken in accordance with the customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the military and the Myanmar Police Force, under the auspices of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, conducted an inspection near Nawnglon Bridge in Kayin State.
Engine oil, edible oil, food and consumer goods (estimated at K58.197 million) and five vehicles carrying such items (estimated at K111 million) which are approximately at K169.197 million in total were seized in accordance with customs procedures.
In addition, a combined inspection team on duty at the Mayangchaung Permanent Checkpoint conducted inspections under the management of the Customs Department on 23 April.
Unlicensed foodstuffs, and other items were found mixed with the luggage and clothing (estimated at K6.318 million) on the express bus from Thanbyuzayet to Mandalay, were seized and action is being taken in accordance with the customs procedures.
Similarly, combined inspection teams led by Bago Region Forest Department conducted inspections under the management of the region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
During the inspection, 15.9068 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood (estimated value of K2,562,900) were seized in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts, and action is being taken in accordance with the forest law.
Therefore, a total of 21 arrests (approximately at K215,790,960) were made on four consecutive days, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.—MNA
