Illegal timber, fuel oil, foodstuffs, consumer goods, electronics, motorbike parts, ship and vehicles confiscated

An on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department conducted inspections at the Myanmar Industrial Port container checkpoint on 17 January.
Officials captured K9.8 million worth of electrical goods that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, a combined team under the management of the Taninthayi Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force searched a small ship (approximately K80 million), which carried fuel oil and docked at a small port near the Shwewetwun Bridge in Kawthoung township and seized 17,777 gallons of fuel oil without official documents. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined team captured an unregistered Mitsubishi Pajero car and an unregistered Toyota Vellfire car worth K12.5 million and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
An on-duty team at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw combined checkpoint nabbed K17,270,000 worth of electrical goods, consumer goods, foodstuffs and motorbike parts without official documents from a Mitsubishi Fuso car (approximately K13 million) heading from Muse to Mandalay. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A total of 52.3200 tonnes of illegal timber worth K3,662,400 was seized in Pathein township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 18 January, a combined team led by the Myanmar Police Force captured an unregistered TE six-wheel car (approximately K8.5 million) in Letpadan township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law. Therefore, 11 arrests (estimated value of K254,239,195) were made on 17 and 18 January, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. – MNA/MKKS
