Illegal timbers, coal, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, an on-duty team made inspections on 12 September.
Officials nabbed K10,285,000 worth of consumer goods without official documents from a Mitsubishi Fuso 12-wheel truck (approximately K30 million) heading from Mawlamyine to Kyaukpadaung. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 15 September, a combined inspection team led by the Bago Region Forest Department captured a total of 13.9922 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K5,152,084 in the Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force confiscated an unregistered car (approximately K2 million) between the 138/3 and 138/4 mileposts on the Yangon-Pyay Road in Nattalin township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Similarly, a total of 7.9636 tonnes of illegal teak doors worth K5,254,788 were seized in Hinthada township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 13 September, an inspection team led by the Investigation and Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of the Customs Department conducted inspections on the Myawady-Hpa-an-Yangon Road, according to information. They confiscated K35,478,366 worth of consumer goods that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a Hino Profia 12-wheel truck (approximately K25 million) near the No 2 Highway junction of Zayatkwin village in Hlegu township. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 14 September, a total of 2.8590 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K628,700 was captured in Thandwe and Taungup townships of Rakhine State. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Afterwards, an unregistered Yamaha FZ motorbike (approximately K500,000) in Homalin township and an unregistered Kenbo 125 motorbike (approximately K150,000) in Shwebo township were seized and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A combined inspection team under the Magway Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force confiscated a total of 37.3060 tonnes of illegal charcoal worth K350,000 from a vehicle (approximately K35 million) in Natmauk township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint captured K1,560,000 worth of clothes that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a truck and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, 18 arrests (approximately K151,358,938) were made on consecutive days from 12 to 15 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
