Illegal timbers, consumer goods, cosmetics and vehicles seized

Officials seize illegal teak.

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken against illicit trade under the law.
On 23 April, a combined inspection team led by the Region Forest Department under the supervision of the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Task Force conducted inspections. They seized 2.1502 tonnes of illegal teak furniture parts and teak doors (estimated value of K645,060) and two vehicles (estimated value of K35,000,000) that carried these things, totalling K35,646,060, on the Yangon-Pyay Road in Mingaladon township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 25 April, the consumer goods and cosmetics (estimated value of K75,150,000), which were not declared in the Import Declaration, were also seized during an inspection conducted by the inspection team on duty under the supervision of the Customs Department at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint. Similarly, the consumer goods that do not show any official documents, with a 12-wheeler truck that carried these things (estimated value of K22,000,000) were seized in Muse Township. The action was taken under the Customs Law.
In addition, on 26 April, 5.4902 tonnes of illegal timbers (estimated value of K1,098,040) were seized under the Forest Law in Bago District and Toungoo District yesterday during an inspection conducted by the inspection team led by the Forest Department under the supervision of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Task Force. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, an unregistered Honda Fit GE6 vehicle (estimated value of K1,500,000) in the Sagaing Region during an inspection conducted by the inspection team led by the Police Force under the supervision of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Task Force. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Therefore, the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee stated that ten arrests (estimated at K189,548,122) were made on 23, 25 and 26 April. — MNA
