Forestry officials inspect seizure of illegal timber in Bago Region.

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illicit trade under the law.
A combined inspection team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal trade special task force of Bago Region, led by the Forest Department inspected at Bago and Toungoo districts on 28 and 29 July. They seized 20.874 tonnes of illegal timbers at estimated value of K10,130,752 and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal trade special task force of Kachin State, led by the Myanmar Police Force searched an express bus, driven from Mandalay to Mohnyin at Nantsiaung checkpoint on 30 July. They found 3,200 kilogrammes of Ammonium Nitrate (estimated value K3.2 million), which is illegal restricted goods and action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
Furthermore, under the supervision of Anti-Illegal trade task force, an on duty inspection team inspected a truck at 20 miles and 3 furlongs on Mandalay-PyinOoLwin road. They found a vehicle, which is stopped and suspicious. They confiscated phone accessories, computer accessories, electronic equipment and consumer goods (estimated value K41,022,050), which are without custom clearance and a 10 wheels Nissan diesel truck estimated K13 million. Total worth of seizures amounted to K54,022,050 and action was taken under the Customs Law.
Therefore, 14 cases (estimated value of K67,352,802) were taken action from 28, 29 and 30 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
