Illegal timbers, consumer goods, foodstuff, car parts, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined team conducted the inspections on 30 July under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force.
Officials confiscated a total of 6.222 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K933,300 from a wooden boat and related things (approximately K920,000) about 0.6 mile north of the Kalwin lighthouse in Myeik township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, an on-duty team of the Bago Township Customs Department carried out inspections under the supervision of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 31 July.
They captured K16,435,000 worth of foodstuffs, consumer goods, car parts, old clothes and Buddha images without official documents from a Ni Di bus (approximately K25 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon. Similarly, officials confiscated K1,470,500 worth of industrial materials without official documents from a Yutong Express bus (approximately K40 million) heading from Mawlamyine to Yangon at Phayagyi toll-gate. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, a combined inspection team made inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe). Officials confiscated K3 million worth of foodstuffs from a truck. The action was taken under the Custom Procedures.
Afterwards, on 1 August, an on-duty team at the Mandalay International Airport captured K1.87 million worth of a pair of DJI Drone without official documents to import and action was taken under the Custom Procedures.
Therefore, ten arrests (approximately K89,628,800) were made on three consecutive days from 30 July and 1 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
