A combined team led by the Region Forest Department under the supervision of the Ayeyawady Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 22 November, according to information.
Officials captured a total of 3.5988 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K251,916 in Pathein township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, on 24 November, an on-duty team under the management of the Customs Department seized K20,377,200 worth of industrial materials and consumer goods that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Myanmar International Terminal Thilawa (MITT). The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
In addition, an on-duty team made inspections at the Nantsiaung combined checkpoint, according to information. Officials impounded 2,000 kilogrammes of white small seeds suspected of ammonium nitrate worth K2 million from a Mitsubishi Fuso car (approximately K30 million) heading from Mandalay to Mohnyin. The action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
On 25 November, a combined team confiscated a total of 4.5219 tonnes of illegal teak windows worth K2,984,454 at the Yadanabon Bridge Combined Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
A total of 6.9438 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K486,066 in Thayawady township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, six arrests (estimated value of K56,099,636) were made on 22, 24 and 25 November, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA
