Illegal timbers, foodstuffs and consumer goods, industrial accessories and vehicles seized

Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, effective action is being taken against offenders to prevent illicit trade under the law.
An on-duty team under the led by Myanmar Police Force and under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Magway Region made inspection on 24 November. They found a Toyota Alphard without licence worth K10 million at the junction of Natmauk Street and Thinkyaryay Street of Kanhla village in Magway Township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law. Then, officials seized 10 gallons of crude oil estimated at K30,000 in Hayla Hill area from the Htaukshabin-Htankine-Mann Oil field in Minbu and action was taken under the Public Property Protection Act.
Similarly, under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Bago Region, an on-duty team inspected at the Shwe Thanlwin toll gate on Yangon-Mawlamyine highway on 24 November. They found foodstuffs such as Lactasoy soy milk, Royal-D, Nestle Milo, edible oil made in Thailand, refrigerators and washing machines worth estimated at K10.764 million without official documents and a Nissan vehicle carrying the goods estimated at K30 million and action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 25 November, a combined team consisting of officials from Region Forest Department made inspection in Kyaukdaga township, Bago district and found 1.5076 tonnes of illegal teak parquet, teak and ironwood lumber estimated at K802,642 and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Furthermore, an on-duty team under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Mandalay Region performed inspection at 16th-mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint on 24 November. They found 8,900 kilogrammes of black sesame estimated at K17.8 million and a Dong Feng Tractor head vehicle estimated at K40 million. On 25 November, the officials found 3,500 pieces of sweaters, long-sleeve shirts and trousers mad in China estimated at K7.25 million from a vehicle at Letpanhla-Singu temporary checkpoint and a vehicle and a tractor estimated at K40 million. The total worth of seizures amounted to K105.05 million and action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
After that, an on-duty team under the supervision of Customs Department investigated at the airport cargo garage in Yangon International Airport. They found industrial accessories which are not match in the Import Declaration (ID) estimated at K13,361,239 and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, 16 cases at an estimated value of K170,007,881 were taken action on 24 and 25 November, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. —MNA
