Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, electrical goods, communication devices, car parts and vehicles confiscated

An on-duty team at the Mingyi Thone Par checkpoint in Yaksauk township in Shan State captured 2,140 bags of black sesame worth K235.4 million without official documents from three tractor heads and three trailers (approximately K320 million) on 12 February. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 13 February, officials seized 2,200 electric fans worth K17.6 million that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar International Terminals (Thilawa) and K57,474,585 worth of car parts that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Hteedan Port container checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, the Illegal Products Prevention Team of Muse District made an unexpected inspection of a vehicle which stopped by the side of the Muse-Namhkam Road in Muse township and confiscated 73 kinds of goods, including 35 pieces of iPad Air & iPad Pro glass defender (Switcheasy), China-made snacks, cosmetics, 7 Wi-Fi repeaters and two jammers, worth K212,113,600 without official documents from a Dongfeng car (approximately K20 million). The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 12 and 13 February, a total of 27.3372 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood worth K10,879,184 was seized in Thayawady and Nyaunglebin districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law. On 13 February, two unregistered trailer jeeps (approximately K5 million) were captured in Monywa township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law. Therefore, 17 arrests (estimated value of K878,467,369) were made on 12 and 13 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
