Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, industrial raw materials, petroleum products and vehicles confiscated

An on-duty team at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State under the supervision of the Customs Department confiscated 2,000 kilogrammes of textile that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) worth K18.06 million from a Hino 500-series truck (estimated value of K45 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady on 8 April and 230 cartons of LipoVitan-D without official documents worth K3.45 million from a Higer express bus (estimated value of K28 million) heading to Yangon from Mawlamyine on 9 April. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined teams under the management of Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force captured 13,000 gallons of crude oil worth K104 million without official documents on Mandalay-Monywa Road on 8 April and a total of 0.498 tonne of illegal timbers worth K327,650 in Minkon village of Sagaing region on 10 April. The action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law and the Forest Law.
On 10 April, the combined teams seized a total of 16.728 tonnes of illegal teaks, 1.967 tonnes of hardwood and 2.263 tonnes of other timbers worth K7,305,646 in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, nine arrests (estimated value of K262,213,296) were made on three consecutive days from 8 to 10 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
